Pest Control Management and its Methods

Pest control is an essential part of agriculture, pest is harmful for the crops and foods and it reduces the security of food, which impact on yield.

Look for symptoms the plant exhibits as a result of pest activity. Examine your plants often and identify your plants to be sure that the twisted leaves, unusual coloration, or strange-looking structures you see are not a normal part of the plant.

Choose a Method

If a control is needed, consider physical or biological methods first. If they are unavailable, you may need to use a conventional chemical control. Methods are given below-

Physical Method-

Pest can be removed from plants physically, you can use traps to catch pest and protect plants from insects for disease. Sometimes physical methods is a best solution to remove the plant and replace it with other one, which is not affected by the pest, because thinning crowded plants to improve air circulation can reduce many disease problems.

Biological methods-

This method divided into two groups- first group have living organism that can kill the insects. And second one is naturally occurring biochemical that is harmful for pest.

An example of a method that uses a naturally occurring biochemical is the bacterium Bacillus- (Bt). It contains a protein that is poisonous to specific insects, yet harmless to other organisms and it can also sprayed on plants. When the sensitive insect pest feeds on the sprayed leaves, it will ingest the protein and be killed.

Chemicals methods-

For the greatest effect, chemical materials need to be applied on a specific part of the plant when the pest is most vulnerable. Always apply chemical controls according to label directions. In some cases horticultural oil are effective choices for the control pest insect population, which are environmentally safe.

This chemical method display a signal word that relate to pesticide’s level toxicity, these words are –caution, warning and danger, use these guidelines words to choose the least hazardous material. For the landscape pest, you need to consider some pesticide formulas that can be applied only by professional with special training and who are certified by agriculture department.
